Grouped machines.-Benches for sewing and like machines, consisting of sections C arranged in parallel rows and mounted upon standards a provided with adjustable head-pieces b, are fitted with compartments underneath, one for each machine, to store or hold the work. The compartments or wells, open at the top and the side near the operator, are formed bv depending partitions g of wood, sheet metal, &c. and a bottom board or plate h with a forwardly projecting ledge h<2>. The top of each well is closed by a sliding cover l, which, when pulled out, serves as a shelf to carry small articles.
