Abstract

297,765. Mallet, M. Sept. 27, 1927, [Convention date]. Scrubbers and washers of the type comprising a number of compartments placed side by side in horizontal series each compartment containing washing surfaces in its upper part and a body of liquid at its base, include a receptacle i<1>, i<2>, i<3> placed at the liquid inlet and between consecutive compartments to receive collected liquid from the base of the compartments through holes o<1>, u<1> and o<2>, u<2> and o<3> or overflowing over partitions. A pump P<1>, P<2>, P<3> raises liquid to the top of the succeeding compartment whence it flows through the filling R to the base receptacle. the pumps being operated so as to keep the liquid level in the intervening receptacles lower than that in the washing receptacles. The compartment walls are formed of a series of discontinuous ledges v between which a free passage of gas from left to right is provided.
