Balancing moving parts; driving and transmission mechanism.-High and low pressure turbines A, B are geared together by single helical wheels E, F having their diameters and the inclination of their teeth so planned that the axial components G, H of the tooth pressures act in opposition to the end-thrusts C, D of the turbines, and relieve to the desired extent the thrust bearings J, K. The balance pistons L may also be reduced in size or dispensed with. The invention is applicable to turbines subdivided into more than two portions.
