Abstract
1510808 Caissons OFFSHORE CONCRETE BV 10 Oct 1975 [11 Oct 1974] 41672/75 Heading E1H To facilitate manufacture, a caisson body 3 is built separately from a skirt structure 5, 6 and subsequently the two are connected together before being sunk onto a water bed with the skirt penetrating into the ground. To connect the two parts together, either the skirt structure 5, 6 is suspended below the caisson body 3 and then raised into contact with it, or it has a buoyancy tank which is initially flooded to position it below the caisson body 3 and then emptied. The skirt structure 5, 6 may be connected to the caisson body 3 as shown in Fig. 4 by means of a hose 11 filled with settable grouting. The skirt structure may be built up from identical sub elements (Fig. 5 not shown) a frame a wall and grating for supporting the bottom of the caisson body.
