Abstract

1509962 Optical inspection apparatus RANK ORGANISATION Ltd 6 May 1976 [13 May 1975] 20136/75 Heading G1A In a device for inspecting an edge E of a turbine blade T a narrow flat knife-edged beam B is formed from a laser L a diverging lens C and a spherical lens S. The arrangement may be viewed at right angles to the beam's plane by a T.V. camera. To increase illumination of the edge a similar laser system (not shown) may be employed on the other side of the blade. Alternatively a prism and a reflector R may be used to reflect part of the laser beam back on to the edge. The spherical lens may be omitted resulting in a narrow flat beam.
