Kinematograph apparatus.-The loop in a film is maintained by having the feed-sprockets loosely coupled on their shafts so that by the action of the film itself the sprockets are accelerated or retarded automatically as required. The sprockets 3, 5 are connected to the shafts 25, 16 respectively by spring pawls and ratchet-wheels so that under ordinary driving-torque the friction between the pawls and ratchet-wheels causes the sprockets to rotate in one with their shafts. In action, if the left-hand loop tends to disappear, the action of the film-gripper causes the sprocket 3 to overrun and restores the loop. If the right-hand loop tends to disappear, the film operates by the roller 40 a lever 39 which at its end 42 engages with pins 43 to retard the sprocket 5 and allows the loop to reform.
