Abstract
414,901. Kinematograph apparatus. HEINIS, H., 15bis, Rue du PrÞ-JÚr¶me, Geneva, Switzerland. Aug. 14, 1933, No. 22716. Convention date, Aug. 18, 1932. [Class 97 (i).] A winding-up and unwinding device for an endless kinematograph film wound up, except for a loop, in superposed layers forming a spiral, in which the winding-up and unwinding of the band is possible both in the direction where the different parts of the band pass from the periphery to the centre of the spiral and in the direction where they pass from the centre to the periphery, is characterised by means which, when the direction of the winding-up and unwinding is such that the different parts of the band pass from the centre of the spiral to the periphery, cause at certain moments a sliding of the exterior layers one upon another and upon the layers nearer the centre of the spiral, the direction of rotation of this sliding being contrary to the direction of rotation given to the spiral owing to the winding-up and unwinding of the latter. As shown in Fig. 8, the spiral 13, with an exterior loop 14, is wound on a core having a number of rollers 15 loose on axes 16, and the film is driven by a sprocket 18 and guided by rollers 19. One face of the spiral is supported by loose radial rollers 20. Mounted loosely on three oscillating levers 21, 22, 23 are rollers 6, 7 and 8 moved in turn against the periphery of the band. As shown in Fig. 11, the other face of the spiral 13 is supported by a movable disc 27 fixed on the rod 28. The shaft 31 driving the sprocket 18, Fig. 8, is driven through a chain and the sprocket 32<1>. The levers 21, 22, 23, Fig. 8, are actuated by cams 32, 33, 34 driven by the pawl 35 and gears 36, 37. On the shaft 31 is a member 39 carrying a pin engaging a star wheel 40 loose on the shaft 28 but integral with the cam 41 engaged by rollers 43 on a lever 42 integral with the shaft 28 which is prevented from turning by a pin 43<1> spring pressed to push the shaft 28 in the direction of the arrow 45. Rotation of the star wheel 40 by the member 39 causes periodic application of the disc 27 against the film spiral. Resilient members may be inserted in the transmission members both of the levers 21, 22, 23 and of the disc 27.
