Abstract

1506582 Circlips; washers CHRYSLER UNITED KINGDOM Ltd 22 May 1975 [6 June 1974] 25223/74 Heading F2H [Also in Division B7] A cover 16 for the disc of a vehicle wheel 10 which is secured to a hub (not shown) by studs 11 and nuts 13 has apertures 17 through which the nuts can pass and project, and is secured by means 18 or 26 engaging at least some of the nuts, the means being releasable from the nuts so that the cover can be removed without undoing the nuts. In Fig. 1, each nut 13 has an enlarged hexagonal head 15 under which a resilient plastics circlip 18 engages to retain the cover 16. In Fig. 3, each nut has a washer 26, of spring steel or resilient plastics, with a hexagonal hole 27 to receive the nut 13, the washer being rotated through 30 degrees when aligned with an annular groove 25 of the nut to bring seating recesses 28 under the angles of the nut at one side of the groove. The washer 26 may have integral spring legs 30, or may be retained by a coil spring (31) (Fig. 6, not shown) located within a flange (32) of the washer and bearing on the cover 16.
