Abstract
1506379 Sliding-jaw clamp BOC INTERNATIONAL Ltd 6 June 1975 [13 June 1974] 26244/74 Heading E2B A clamp comprises a cylindrical body 8 able to slide inside another one 2. The inner cylinder 8 is provided with a head 10, outside the cylinder 2, and a sloping surface 18, inside it. Screw 20 bears down through tapped aperture 22 in the cylinder 2 on to this sloping surface so that screwing screw 20 inwards draws the smaller cylinder 8 into the larger one 2 and so permits an object, in this case a rail 14, to be held between head 10 and the end of cylinder 2. The outer cylinder 2 is held onto a wall 38 by means of a screw 4 engaging a plug 42. The screw may (as in Fig. 2, not shown) eccentrically engage a washer 6 held in the body of cylinder 2, or it may be passed eccentrically through a cylindrical member 26. This member has a bevelled surface 34 engaging the end of screw 30, tightening of which forces cylinder 2 against the wall 38.
