Abstract

1413040 Studs and socket fastenings HONEYWELL GmbH 8 Nov 1973 [8 Nov 1972 24 Jan 1972 (2)] 51816/73 Heading E2B [Also in Divisions F2 and H1] A component having a substantially circular cross-section for mounting in a wall opening 5 of similar cross-section has a. peripheral groove 6 accommodating a locking ring 7 provided with radially outwardly extending resilient teeth 9 having inclined surfaces so that upon insertion in the opening 5 the teeth 9 are urged radially inwards to pass through the wall 1, the resilience of the teeth 9 causing them to move radially outwards after passing through and to abut the adjacent wall surface such that the wall can be gripped between the teeth 9 and clamping means such as 14, provided on the component to press against the opposite side of the wall 1. As shown the clamping means 14 is a ring threadedly engaged on the body 2 of a switch with a push-button. 4. A projection 19 with a guide hole 18 enables a screw-driver 17 to engage serrations 21 and tighten ring 14 against a seal 16. The locking ring 7 has a gap (11, Figure 2, not shown) to facilitate its insertion into groove 6. Alternative clamping means may comprise a non- threaded axially slidable collar (24, Fig. 3, not shown) urged towards the wall 1 by a helical spring (25) surrounding the body 2 with back up screws (26, 27), or the screws may form the clamping means without any spring (Fig. 4, not shown). The switch has a threaded cover 12 which is fitted after mounting the switch in wall 1 and may engage a sealing ring (10, Fig. 3, not shown). In the embodiment of Figure 4 (not shown) the collar (34) has a raised peripheral lip (35) engaging the wall 1 to limit the deformation of sealing ring 16.
