Abstract

935,435. Electric connectors. GILBERT MANUFACTURING CO. Inc. March 28, 1960 [April 7, 1959], No. 10895/60. Class 38 (1). [Also in Groups XVII and XXVIII] A connector for detachably joining a mating threaded member comprises a body portion 13 having a cylindrical surface which can slide relative to the threaded member, flexible resilient means 31 mounted circumferentially on the cylindrical surface and being deformed by, and engaging the threads of, the threaded member on mating, the resilient means allowing straight - forward longitudinal movement in the assembling direction only, and ready separation only occurring upon unscrewing the threaded member from the connector. The side wall 28 on the open side of the connector is narrower than that 27 on the opposite side of the groove 26 housing the resilient means 31 so that the cavity bore on the open side is wider than that on the blind side, and on pulling the threaded member outwardly the resilient means will roll up on the inner wall of the cavity, thereby gripping the threads more firmly. Projections in the groove 26 prevent rotation of the means 31 which also provided a moisture-proof seal. The threads and resilient means can be interchanged.
