Abstract

1502917 Valves; lubricating FISPA SpA 2 July 1975 [19 July 1974] 27919/75 Headings F2A and F2V [Also in Divisions B1-B2] A component for a compressed air system comprises, in a single assembly, an air filter, pressure reducing valve and a mist lubricator. Compressed air enters the assembly at an inlet 4, Fig. 2, in a central casing 1 and flows via passage 61 to the inner chamber 14 of a transparent plastic reservoir 8 screwed to casing 1. Vanes 22 swirl the air to cause centrifugal separation of the heavier particles which are collected at the bottom of chamber 14 for draining through valve 15. The swirling air then being deflected by plate 31 through a filter element 32 to passages 25 and chamber 24. Communication between the latter and a further chamber 39 is controlled by a pressure reducing valve comprising a closure piston 34 urged by spring 33 towards cylindrical seat 36 and in the opposite direction by a loading spring 55 acting on a piston 56 bearing on closure piston 34 via tube 58. Any increase in the pressure in chamber 39 causes piston 56 to move upwards to reduce the valve opening and thus restore the pressure to that set by loading spring adjusting knob 53. If the pressure increase is sudden, the valve fully closes and tube 58 unseats from piston 34 to vent chamber 39 to atmosphere via the. tube and ports 48. A major portion of the air flows from chamber 39 and past a resilient diaphragm 63 directly to the assembly outlet 5, the remainder flowing through inclined atomizing nozzle 77, Fig. 4, to mix with oil induced through passage 80 from a chamber enclosed by transparent dome 71. The air/oil mixture enters outer chamber 13 of reservoir 8 and thence flows through port 62 to outlet 5. Chamber 13 acts as an oil sump from which oil is drawn into dome 71 via a tube (64, Fig. 3, not shown), non-return ball (66), adjustable throttling needle (68) and tube 74. The sump can be filled by removing a plug (81, Figs. 1, 5, not shown). A gauge (84) indicates the output pressure.
