[Also in Divisions Fl and F2] In a rotary-piston pump for supplying a mixture of oil and air to an oil burner, oil is drawn by a pumping piston or rotor 43 into a cavity having a peripheral wall 42 situated between sections 13, 15 of the pump housing, the oil being stored in a reservoir (T), Fig. 10 (not shown), which is connected to said cavity by a pipe 34, a valve 100 surrounded by a filter 18, a flow-restricting orifice 150 provided with a filter 67, bores (80, 82, 83), Fig. 2 (not shown), further bores 86, 87 and a port 88 in the wall 42. Simultaneously, atmospheric air is drawn into the said cavity through a clearance gap 106 between a driving shaft 44 for the rotor and a cap 103, a recess 102 and bores 112, 113, 118, 119, 120, the air-oil mixture being ejected by the rotor through bores 124, 126 and a pipe (127'), Fig. 3 (not shown), which is connected to the burner, Surplus air in the mixture is separated from the oil in the bore 126 through a vertical pipe (133) whence the air returns to the inlet side of the pump through bores (130, 129)controlled by a needlevalve 127. The valve 100 is pressure controlled and renders the rate of flow of oil on the inlet side of the pump constant irrespective of changes in the surface level of the oil in the reservoir (T).
