Abstract

1,132,977. Valves. MIDLAND-ROSS CORP. 25 Nov., 1965 [25 Nov., 1964], No. 50066/65. Heading F2V. A check valve, suitable for an automotive air brake system supplied by a reciprocating compressor and designed to avoid hammering, comprises a cap-shaped valve member 22 slidable on an inlet fitting 12. The lip 23 of the valve member engages a conical seat 24 in closed position. A damping chamber 25 enclosed between the valve member and the base 26 of the fitting, communicates with the inlet through an orifice 27. The valve is responsive to the pressure difference between chamber 25 and the outlet to control transverse flow ports 21, and may be loaded by a light spring 28.
