Abstract

150,165. British Thomson - Houston Co., and Young, A. P. Aug. 8, 1919. Magneto-electric machines.-The field-magnet structure of an ignition magneto comprises a permanent bar magnet 2 with arc-shaped laminated pole-pieces 3 secured to the engine fly-wheel 1. The armature 6 is fixed by bolts &c. to a stationary casing 4 having an aperture 11 for the reception of the moving contact 12 of the interrupter. The contact 12 co-operates with a fixed contact 21 and is carried on a part 16 of magnetic material, which is attracted by the pole-pieces 3 as they pass under it, thereby separating the contacts. A spring 14 tends to force the contacts into engagement. The contact 12 is pivoted on a bearing 13 and its movement is limited by a leaf spring 15.
