Abstract

1499871 Swan-neck trailers TASKERS TRAILERS Ltd 8 Jan 1975 [8 Oct 1973] 46931/73 Heading B7T [Also in Division B8] A semi-trailer comprises a load-carrying platform 12 and a removable swan neck 1 which carries a king pin 10 for coupling with the fifth wheel of a tractor vehicle or of a forecarriage, the swan neck being provided with hydraulic cylinders 5 for causing movement of members 22 engageable with hooks 3 at the front end of the platform, the arrangement being such that when the front end of the swan neck is supported on the fifth wheel of the tractor vehicle or forecarriage, the front end of the platform can be raised and lowered by operation of the cylinders 5. As illustrated, the swan neck 1 abuts against an abutment 16 of the platform 12. In a modification of the illustrated embodiment, links 2 have hooked lower ends for engagement with a bar member provided on the front end of the platform.
