Abstract

1498385 A gun barrel support stand FORENADE FABRIKSVERKEN 3 Feb 1976 [26 Feb 1975] 4242/76 Heading F3C A gun barrel support stand has legs 1, Fins. 1 and 2, rotatably mounted in a centre plate 8 which carries a ground level control means 10, an elevation sighting means 11, a side direction control device 4, a holder 2 for the barrel 3 of the gun and means for controlling the elevation of the gun. The latter comprises a member 19 carried by an internallythreaded tube 21, Fig. 3, which is guided in a housing 20. The Housing 20 is mounted to the centre plate 8 by guide 25, 26, the guide 25 being mounted in the ground level control means 10 and the guide 26 being mounted in the elevation sighting means 11 and being provided with an annular recess 28, Fig. 6. The recess 28 receives a flange of an externally screw-threaded sleeve 29 which extends through a hole 30 of the centre plate 8. The sleeve 29 is urged by a nut 31 against the guide 26 and has a locking-sleeve 35 located therein and urged against guide bar 24 by a spring 36. The sleeve 35 has a truncated cone portion which co-operates with recesses 37 in the guide bar to effect rapid adjustment and locking of the elevation control housing 20 relative to the centre plate 8, and has a screwthreaded neck 38 with a nut 40 thereon. A nut 39 is threaded on the sleeve 29 to prevent the sleeve 35 disengaging the respective recess 37 and is rotatable by a wheel 42 which is connected to the nut 39 by splines. The axial movement of the wheel 42 away from the guide 26 is limited by a shaft 43 which is supported by a piston 44 in the sleeve 35 and is provided with a nut 46. Release of the sleeve 35 from the recess 37 is effected by rotation the wheel 42 to so move the nut 39 axially and provide clearance between its flange 41 and a step of the sleeve 35. The latter can then be moved axially against the urges of the spring 36. In use rapid elevational adjustment of the barrel 3 is effected by positioning the truncated part of the sleeve 35 in the appropriate recess 37. Fine adjustment is then effected by axially moving the tube 21, Fig. 3, carrying the member 19, a screw 22 engaging the internal thread of the tube 21 and being rotated by a crank 23.
