Abstract

1497573 Vapour depositing selenium and arsenic LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS GmbH 16 May 1975 [24 May 1974] 20948/75 Heading C7F [Also in Division G2] A photo-conducting layer containing Se and As is formed on an electrically conducting carrier by simultaneous evaporation from two separate sources, one source containing Se, a Se alloy or Se compound free of As and the other source containing at least one Se-As compound e.g. As 2 Se 3 , AsSe4, As 2 Se 2 , As 2 Se 5 . The layer may also be doped with a halogen by including a halogen in one or both of the evaporation sources. A shutter is preferably located between the sources and carrier e.g. Al , and the shutter is opened only when the evaporation temperature is reached. In an alternative embodiment an As concentration gradient is formed in the layer by simultaneous evaporation from both sources during only part of the process.
