Abstract

1497403 Structural bars C SLOGGETT 31 July 1975 [4 Sept 1974 10 Dec 1974] 38624/74 and 53337/74 Heading E1K [Also in Division F2] Frameworks, e.g. for furniture or sliding doors, are built up from extruded bars of angle section (e.g. of L-section) each having an inwardly facing part-circular recess at the junction between the arms of the section and, in addition, one or more recess or projection on an inwardly facing surface of each arm, at least one of the recesses or projections being of dovetail or equivalent form so as to engage in interlocking manner with a complementary projection or recess on another framework member, e.g. a corner connecting piece. In Fig. 1, an L-section extruded bar 1 has a part-circular recess 14 at the junction of its arms 2, 3 and recesses 12, 13 on the inwardly facing surfaces 10, 11 of the arms 2, 3, the recesses 12 being undercut in the form of a dovetail while the recesses 13 have parallel sides with longitudinal serrations. Three such extruded bars 1a, 1b, 1c, Fig. 2 are mitred to form a corner and are connected together by a connecting piece - 15 having arms 16, 17, 18, each arm having a longitudinal part-circular rib formation 21, 20, 32, respectively, for interlocking sliding engagement with the part-circular recess in the associated bar, a rib 23 or 24, respectively, being provided on each of the arms 16, 17 for frictional engagement with the groove 13 in the associated bar 1b or 1c, and a projection 27, 28 also being provided in the arms 16, 17, respectively, for engagement in the recesses 12 in the bar 1a.
