Abstract

149,621. Siemens & Halske Akt.- Ges. July 24, 1919, [Convention date]. Magnetic instruments; receivers; carpieces. - A telephone receiver forinsertion in the ear of a deaf person consists of two parts at right-angles to one another, one of. which contains the magnet coils and diaphragm and is inserted in the auditory channel, while the other contains the permanent magnets and hangs down in the outer part of the ear. The coils 5 are mounted in a cylinder 1 of brass or the like, and the pole-shoes, which project backwards through the rear wall of the cylinder, are screwed at 8 to the magnets and to the rectangular case 2. The leads 11 are brought in through a slotted sleeve 12 to terminal screws on an insulating-block 9 and are clamped by a nut 13. The diaphragm consists of an iron disk 16 mounted on a membrane of gold-beater's skin which is carried by a member 18. The latter receives the screwed end of the replaceable nozzle-piece 20, and screws into the adjustable sleeve 19, which is provided with a lock-nut 21, or alternatively is formed with radial teeth between which engages a locking-spring fixed to the casing.
