Abstract

1494331 Thermo-aluminic processes; reparing ingot moulds by composite casting HILTI AG 19 May 1975 [18 June 1974] 26875/74 Headings B3F and B3V A missing lifting lug or part thereof of an ingot mould 10 is replaced by placing on the mould refractory shuttering 13 defining a cavity 15 corresponding to a lifting lug, and depositing in the cavity molten metal from a thermoaluminic reaction so as to effect the repair (30), Fig. 5 (not shown). The shuttering 13 is surrounded by sand 26 in a retainer 24. A stag notch 20 is provided for the molten metal which flows into the cavity 15 from a crucible, the mouth having been pre-heated internally and externally at the repair site.
