Abstract
1375067 Casting processes for ingots INSTITUT ELEKTROSVARKI IMENI E O PATONA AKADEMII NAUK UKRAINSKOI SSR 16 June 1972 [16 June 1972 : 9 Nov 1971 14 Dec 1971] 28365/72 Heading B3F Multi-layer metal ingots with layers of the same or differing material (e.g. steel and Mo) are cast by pouring a charge of molten metal into a mould containing liquid slag to form a layer, the slag being maintainedat a temperature (e.g. by electric current passed through the slag by non-consumable electrodes) above the melting point of the metal charge, part-solidifying the cast layer until only a surface portion of a thickness from 0À02 to 0À2 of the cast layer remains molten and pouring a further charge of molten metal on to the surface of the previously poured charge.
