Abstract
1493316 Deflecting tendons in prestressed concrete structures W & C FRENCH (CONSTRUCTION) Ltd 19 Feb 1976 [10 March 1975] 9897/75 Heading E1W In the production of a pretensioned prestressed concrete beam, rollers are employed adjacent deflectors which are to be cast into the beam, the tendons being stressed around the rollers, and the stress thereafter being transferred to the deflectors. In the embodiment described, ladder-like deflectors 9 are fixed to the casting bed 1 via a pivoted connection 13, a slot 15 in the bed, a sliding joint between plates 17 and 18, removable packing plates 21, a yoke 25 and a jack 23, (Fig. 9). The rollers are in the form of pulley wheels 46 (Fig. 8) mounted on a verticallyadjustable yoke 43. Exterior deflectors 8, 10 at the ends of the or each beam (three may be cast in line) each comprise three hanging plates 30 separated by shafts 31 each carrying a roller mounted on needle bearings, the shafts being arranged in gentle curves for each stressing tendon. The deflectors 9 are mounted so as to allow horizontal movement of the beam as the beam is allowed to move upwardly after casting, the upward movement being controlled by the jacks 23.
