1492508 Open end spinning BARBER - COLMAN CO 14 May 1976 [16 May 1975] 19913/76 Headings DID and D1N An open end spinning machine comprises a first vacuum port 23 in the yarn spinning chamber 22, a second vacuum port 31 for removing foreign material from a cleaning chamber 30, a single vacuum source 11 connected to the first and second vacuum ports 22, 31 the single vacuum source 11, when in operation, providing sufficient the vacuum pressure (below atmospheric pressure) to draw opened fibres through a passage 19 connecting the opening roll enclosure 18 to the spinning chamber 22 and to remove foreign material from the opening chamber 30. The first and second ports 23. 31, may comprise a restriction 34, 35, 37, 38, which may be adjustable to control the vacuum pressures in the spinning chamber 22 and the cleaning chamber 30. The vacuum pressures may be such that fibres in the rotor 21 are removed when the rotor is stationary. A single vacuum source may be connected to a plurality of open end spinning stations.
