Abstract

1, 037, 466. Wet presses. HUYCK CORPORATION. Aug. 4, 1964 [Aug. 2, 1963], No. 31502/64. Heading D2A. [Also in Division F4] A double fabric press has at least the inner fabric 13 subjected to gas jets-for example air or nitrogen-to remove water therefrom. An air box 46 with a plurality of orifices 48, or with a single slot 45, Fig. 3 (not shown), or a number of air conduits extending across the fabric, each conduit having a plurality of nozzles 24, Figs. 1 and 2 (not shown), is/are provided opposite collection box 26 which may be connected to a pump. The outer felt 12 may have one or more air boxes 52, with rods or cylinders 58, 60 on collection receptacle 62 acting to seal the felt against box 52. A supporting wire belt or fabric 66 may be provided. In Fig. 5 (not shown) the fabric 13 itself supports the felt 12 while the latter is subjected to gas jets from box 52 and before water is removed from fabric 13. Press roll 16 may be of the suction type, while fabrics 12, 13 may be arranged above the paper web 10.
