Abstract

1492306 Rudders GLACIER METAL CO Ltd 5 May 1976 [5 May 1975] 18671/75 Heading B7V A Kort rudder has upper and lower pintle bearings 8 and 9, the lower of which is located in a housing 15 which is removable from the hull. The housing 15 is held by bolts 18 and dowels 16, 17 and when released by a diver, allows the rudder to be lowered to release the upper pintle from its bearing 11, and the rudder to be lifted by a mechanism 21, 22. The propeller has removable blades 6, and a shaft 1 that can be moved axially to facilitate this operation. In Fig. 4, not shown, the upper pintle 8 is bolted to the rudder to obviate the need to lower the rudder before removal.
