Abstract
1491478 Heat exchangers BRITISH GAS CORP 11 June 1975 [11 June 1974] 25813/74 Heading F4S A heat exchanger for use in a domestic central heating and hot water boiler comprises a series of pairs of substantially U-shaped channels 1 and 2 arranged in face to face relationship with a divider 3 between each pair to form passageways 12, 13, and each channel having a single end opening 7, 8, whilst the ends of the pairs of passageways are closed by end plates. Each pair is held in spaced relationship with each other by metal cast around a plurality of pairs, of such thickness as to enable slots to be machined therein to form heat exchange fins and holes to be drilled therethrough between each pair of passageways to allow hot gases to pass between them. The respective passageways 12, 13 of adjacent channels are interconnected in series by tubes (13, Fig. 5). In use, domestic hot water flows in the passageways 12 and central heating water flows in the passageways 13.
