Abstract

1490381 Heating apparatus R SIMON 14 Feb 1975 6325/75 Heading A5R An apparatus for treating patients by the intense perspiration method comprises a horizontal table 1 for receiving the patient and a heating system comprising one or more infrared ray emitters carried parallel to and overlying the table by a tray 11 which is supported by means permitting its distance from the table to be adjusted, the tray carrying a curtain 19 for bounding an enclosure between the tray and the table so that an end portion of the table lies outside the enclosure. The supporting means comprises a vertical post 6 supporting a self-winding balancing device covered by a housing 9, and is fastened firmly to the table 1, the tray 11 being slidably connected to the post by sleeve 10, which may be locked in position by a screw device operated by handle 16. Each of the emitters has a control 21 for regulating its output. The patient may be supported on a mattress 4 with an enclosed heater and enclosed vibrating device, and the tray may be provided with a fan 24a for keeping the patient's head cool.
