The invention relates to an irradiation device for medical purposes with a lower part that has a lying surface and an upper part that is arranged at a distance above the lying surface and is designed with a heat generating device by means of which the body of a person lying on the lying surface can be heated.

Such radiation devices are used to treat back pain, e.g. tension, strains, sciatica and spinal syndromes.

The invention is based on the task of developing a radiation device for medical purposes, by means of which the metabolism and the lymph system can be activated through treatment and the energy flow can be harmonized.

This object is achieved according to the invention in that the bed surface of the irradiation device has a head section and a body section separated from it, and that the separated body section can be set into vibration by means of a vibration generator. In particular, if the vibration movement of the body section of the bed surface can be set in a frequency range between 50 and 100 Hz, the intrinsic reflex of the muscles can be switched off by vibration through targeted frequency control; i.e. the patient can no longer voluntarily influence his muscle movements. This achieves an effective, tone-reducing effect on the cramped back muscles; vertebral joint blockages are released. High-frequency vibration leads to an increase in blood flow to the cutaneous and subcutaneous layers, resulting in a detectable warming and an increased removal of catabolic metabolites. In the phase of high-frequency vibration, the supraspinal and segmental alpha and gamma coupling is eliminated. The position and movement message to the brain stem is no longer sent and voluntary muscle reflexes are switched off in this way.

The hot air directed at the body of the person being treated can beneficially warm and relax the muscles.

In addition, the effectiveness of the antispasmodic effect on the muscles is further increased if the heat generating device is at least partially made up of IR radiation sources. The therapeutic infrared light leads to a deep warming of the muscle layers and an improvement in blood circulation. It is advantageous to use IR radiation sources that essentially emit radiation in the wavelength range between 700 nm and 1500 nm (IRA).

To strengthen the immune system and the psychological well-being of the person being treated, the heat generating device can be made up at least partially of UV radiation sources. The UV radiation sources mentioned should preferably emit radiation in the wavelength range between 300 and 400 nm.

9 Upper part of the irradiation device.

Figure 1 shows an irradiation device 1 for medical purposes, the functional elements of which, explained below, can be switched on, off and regulated by means of control elements provided on a control console 2. For this purpose, a control device (not shown) connected on the one hand to three switching elements and on the other hand to the functional elements to be explained below is arranged within the control console 2. In addition, the control device can also be input by means of a cassette (not shown) containing the corresponding control information, which can be inserted into the control device through a slot 3 formed accordingly in the control console 2. Depending on the characteristics of the person 4 to be treated on the irradiation device 1, a cassette containing a special information content can be provided for a specific person or a specific group of people.

The control console 2 is movable in relation to the irradiation device 1 and is connected to the irradiation device 1 via appropriately designed lines, cables, etc. In addition, an oxygen generating device (not shown) is arranged within the control console 2, which is supplied to the respiratory organs via lines and oxygen inhalation parts.

An addition device is connected to the oxygen generation device, by means of which the gas flowing from the oxygen generation device to the person to be treated can be charged with dispersed essential oils. The oxygen generation device, the oxygen inhalation parts and the drawing devices for the essential oils can be designed in any known design.

The irradiation device 1 has an upper part 5 and a lower part 6, on the upper wall of which a lying surface 7 is formed. The lying surface 7 is divided into a head section 8 and a body section 9. Both sections 8, 9 each lie against one another with a wall, but are not connected to one another. The head section 8 of the lying surface 7 is spatially fixed to the upper wall of the lower part 6. The body section 9 of the lying surface 7 rests on a sub-frame 11 arranged separately from a main frame 10 of the lower part 6 within the lower part 6, on which a vibration motor 12 acting as a vibration generator is also mounted. The frequency of the vibration generated by the vibration motor 12 can be set as desired between 50 and 100 Hz. A damping chamber consisting of several damping elements 13 is arranged between the partial frame 11 and the main frame 10 of the lower part, in order to prevent the vibrations transmitted by the vibration motor 12 to the body section 9 from being transmitted to the remaining lower part 6 of the irradiation device 1 and thus also to the head section 8 of the lying surface 7 which supports the head of the person to be treated.

An extension device is provided on the lower part 6 of the irradiation device 1. This has a first belt 14 fastened in the chest area of the person 4 lying on the bed surface 7, which is firmly attached to the bed surface 7 and fixed to the irradiation device 1 by means of a fastening device 15 in the longitudinal direction of the person 4 to be treated. The upper part 5 can be roof-shaped, with a side section 21 or 22 oriented diagonally downwards adjoining an approximately horizontally arranged central section 20.
