1489884 Brake transmitting-mechanism; slack adjusters WABCO WESTINGHOUSE SpA 6 Nov 1974 [29 Nov 1973] 47953/74 Addition to 1440966 Heading F2E In order to ensure correct and unfailing operation of the regulator constituting the main invention, the present invention comprises additional apparatus 60, Figs. 2, 5, adapted to oppose axial displacement of rod 25, Fig. 1 (connected to brake element(s) 17) with respect to the housing 21, Fig. 2, of the regulator 1 with an axial force of a predetermined value, such value being higher than the value of the axial force required for producing rotation of nut (33), (Fig. 3, not shown, or Fig. 4 of "main" Specification) with respect to screw (26). As shown, sectors 64, axially fixed with respect to rod 25, are forced outwards against an extension 62 of end cover 23 by preloaded springs 66. In Fig. 6 (not shown), apparatus is provided for exerting spring pressure inwards on rod 25.
