Abstract

1,241,303. Load-responsive hydraulic brakes. CITROEN S.A. (Automobiles Citroen Berliet Panhard). 30 Aug., 1968 [17 Oct., 1967], No. 41630/68. Heading F2F. In a load-responsive hydraulic braking system, apparatus is provided for mechanical regulation of a brake limiting valve device 5 which has a movable element 6 co-operating with a pivoted lever 8 subjected to the action of a calibrated spring 7, the lever 8 being adapted to be coupled by a unidirectionally acting adjustable coupling B connected to an adjustable spring 10 whose length is adjustable, when the axle loading on the vehicle is a minimum, relative to a pivoted arm 14 fixed to the vehicle axle. The calibrated spring 7 is fixed at one of its ends to one of the arms of a pivoted twoarmed lever 15, 16 while the adjustable spring 10 is coupled to the other arm of the lever, pivotal movement of one of these arms being limited by at least one adjustable abutment 18 defining the minimum brake pressure. A second abutment 19 defines the maximum braking pressure. In an alternative system (Fig. 4, not shown), the resilient rod system has two springs connected by a rigid element having an abutment which bears against the lever of the limiting valve device, one of the springs being fixed to the frame of the limiting device while the other is coupled to the pivoted arm 14 of the axle by a rod system of adjustable length.
