Abstract

Multiplex wireless signalling; aerials; thermionic relays. - Simultaneous reception by frame aerials of a number of messages or different wave lengths is obtained by coupling the aerial circuit to s number of secondary circuits, each tuned tc one of the desired waves. The receptior may be amplified by thermionic valves either before or after separating the various wave lengths. As shown in Fig. 1, the aerial a is connected in series with a number of coupling coils b, c, d and with a tuning condenser k which, however, may be shortcircuited by a switch u to render the aerial circuit aperiodic. Secondary circuits e, f, g tuned to the desired frequencies are coupled on the one hand to the aerial coils b, c, d and on the other hand to the grid circuit of valve amplifiers h. The plate circuits of the valves are coupled reacti vely to the aerial circuit. To render the aerial system non-directional, a pair of frame aerials set up at right angles, or a number of frames arranged symmetrically, may be connected in parallel.
