Abstract

1488065 Tethered concrete platforms ARMERAD BETONG AB 14 Oct 1975 [15 Oct 1974] 41923/75 Heading E1H A tethered concrete platform is built without the need of a dry dock by firstly casting a plurality of hollow buoyant base units, floating these units, joining groups of floating base units together end to end to form base sub assemblies 23, connecting a plurality of the base sub assemblies 23 together by cross members 24 to form floating base assemblies 25 and then joining two of the assemblies 25 together by cross members 26 to form a buoyant base 27. Columns 30 are then cast on the base 27 and a deck 32 is mounted on the columns by ballasting the base units to submerge the base 27 to a depth where the deck 32 may be floated over the columns' tops on two pontoons. At the operational site, the platform is tethered by mooring cables 35. The base units have a plurality of axially extending passages in their peripheral walls and steel rods pass through these passages to connect a plurality of base units together end to end to form a floating base sub assembly 23.
