Abstract
1487156 Casting composite articles TRW Inc 5 Aug 1975 [5 Aug 1974] 32715/75 Heading B3F A method of bonding a metal to a metal preformed article 20 comprises providing on the article, at least about those portions thereof to which the metal is to be bonded, an alloying preventing layer, attaching to the article a disposable pattern 26-30 of the configuration of the shape to be formed by the metal, forming an investment mould around the pattern, removing the pattern to provide a mould cavity pouring the metal molten into the mould cavity to proeide a casting about the desired portions of the preformed article. Mechanical interlocking means is provided on the article which are engaged by the metal during the casting process, any substantial metallurgical bonding between the article and the cast metal being prevented by the alloying preventing layer.
