Abstract

1485828 Coated foams BOLIDT LICENSE NV 27 Aug 1974 [27 Aug 1973] 37493/74 Heading B2E [Also in Divisions B5 and C3] Layers of synthetic resin foam useful in flameproofing and insulation may be coated by brushing or spraying with bitumen latex and/or tar and/or epoxy resin. The foam may be a urea formaldehyde resin optionally containing a furan resin, a co-condensate of a furan resin with one or more of phenol, melamine, urea and cresol, polyester resin, a polyurethane, alkyd resin, acrylic resin or a phenoplast. Other additives which may be included are cement, china clay, vermiculite, wood flour and asbestos, optionally pretreated with waterglass. Flame proofing additives may be included. e.g. substances based on B, P, halogen, N and/or antimony trioxide, asbestos perlite, vermiculite or dispersed silica. Further additives may be included, e.g. sodium silicates or clay, gypsum, alumina, china clay, calcium carbonate, aluminium phosphates, aluminium silicates, aluminium sulphate, aluminium oxide, aluminium-choose oxide, oxides of Mn, Mg, Zr, Be and Ti. metal powder, graphite, polyvinyl acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, glycol, other monohydric or polyhydric alcohols, glycerol esters, sodium sulphite, acrylamide, lignin, ammonium phosphates, cresol, cellulose or bitumen. Oils, oleic acid, tall oils, silicone oils, waxes and/or chlorinated paraffin may be added. Several starting formulations for foam are specified. Further fireproofing additives include sugars, dextrose, starch, urea and/or monohydric or polyhydric alcohols.
