Abstract

1288613 Mineral wool composition CAPE INSULATION Ltd 19 April 1971 [6 Nov 1969] 54534/69 Heading C3N A thermal and acoustic insulating coating composition comprises mineral wool fibres of at least 8% by wt. iron oxide content, a high alumina cement binder, and a fire retardant plasticizer and/or a vegetable oil. The cement may be Ciment Fonder, and bentonite may be included as a further binder. Specified plasticizers are tritolyl phosphate, trichlorethylphosphate and dibutylphthalate. The mineral wool is preferably rock wool containing 8-14% ferrous and/or ferric oxide. The composition may contain 48-80% by wt. mineral wool fibres, 18-50% binder and 0À5-2À5% plasticizer. To form an insulating coating the above dry composition and water are simultaneously sprayed on the substrate surface.
