Abstract

Insulating panels for ducts etc., consists of porous asbestos with added ferric oxide, and =30 wt.% graphite. The porous asbestos is coated with an outer layer which is water impermeable. The ferric oxide raises the stability and the fire resistance of the asbestos without the drawbacks of graphite for the isolation of ducts. Corrosion resistance is improved.
