Abstract
The porous enamel coating having a porosity of 5-50 vol. %, which is permeable to steam and gases, contains as corrosion inhibitor elemental Cr in an amt. of Ca. 0.5-50 wt. % of the coating, which is sufficient to prevent corrosion of the substation. The porous porcelain enamel coating is formed on the substrate, which is liable to corrode, by applying a layer of frit contg. a Cr compd., and heating the substrate so as to melt the frit and transform the Cr cpd. into elemental Cr. Used for self-cleaning oven liner coatings.
