Abstract

1414044 Process and fibrous compositions therefor TAC CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS Ltd 25 Feb 1974 [9 March 1973] 11632/73 Addition 1148685 Heading C3N A process for coating a surface by spraying a mixture of fibre, a powder binder and water on to the surface is characterized in that the fibre is all mineral wool predominantly in the form of tufts, the binder is an "hydraulic binder" (not being a high-alumina cement) and the spray includes a non-mineral oil, i.e. vegetable oil or animal/fish oil. The expression "hydraulic binder" is defined as meaning both binders capable of setting by chemical reaction with water and inorganic binders capable of setting by purely mechanical means, i.e. by elimination of water on drying. The binder may be Portland cement including mixtures thereof with pulverized fuel ash, super-sulphated cement, magnesium oxychloride, magnesium oxysulphate, hydraulic lime, gypsum, clay, sodium silicate or potassium silicate. The composition to be sprayed may also contain a surface active agent, a cellulose ether or a fire-retardant compound, e.g. an organic phosphate.
