Abstract

1484144 Selective printing PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 13 Sept 1974 [18 Sept 1973] 40070/74 Heading B6F A paper web driving device for a printer includes a pair of tractors 3 (only one of which is visible) engaging respective perforations on the edges of paper web 1, a further web feeding device 8 downstream of the tractors and a drive to the tractors (not shown) which is further transmitted to the device 8 by a resilient connection. As shown in Fig. 1 the connection is an elastic belt 13 passing over pulley 11 which has a free wheel coupling to device (a roller) 8. The peripheral speed of the roller 8 is designed to be greater than that of the tractors so as to keep the paper taut. In Fig. 2 the device 8 is replaced by stacker 15. The stacker 15 has two belts 17 (only one visible) passed around pulleys 16, 19, the lower pulleys 19 being reciprocatably movable. The resilient drive connection comprises a belt 36 passed over pulleys 39, 40 on a yoke 41 supported by pivot arms 42, 43 and urged downwards by spring 45.
