Abstract

1490597 Windscreen wipers WYNSTRUMENTS Ltd 13 Feb 1976 [5 Sept 1975] 36554/75 Heading A4F [Also in Division E2] A window or windscreen wiper driven by an endless flat drive belt 3 rotatable around pulleys 4, 5 is coupled to the belt by a device comprising an element 20 connectable at pivot 19 to a link 17 and having a part-cylindrical surface 23, and a clamp part 25 which extends through an aperture 24 so as to define a slot 28 with the surface 23 in which the belt is clamped. As shown the clamp part 25 has limbs 27'to compress the width of the belt so that the device does not foul the pulleys 4, 5. Portions 29, 30 of resilient material, if positioned in the slot 28, spread local pressure on the belt 3 and prevent chafing of the belt. As shown the link 17 is pivotally attached to a carriage 7 for the wiper 13-16, the carriage being guided by rollers 8, 10 so that as the belt rotates around the pulleys 4, 5 the wiper blade 16 moves rectilinearly to and fro.
