Abstract

The typewriter has a platen (18) and it has rollers whereby the typing paper is pressed against the platen so that friction between the platen and the paper causes latter to be fed when the platen is rotated. To prevent slipping between sheets when several sheets are fed together, the rollers are geared to the platen to have the same peripheral speed. The gearing may be by an endless belt (4) trained over pulleys (9, 15) on spindles (3, 2) which are spaced around the platen periphery and to which the rollers are secured. One run of the belt engages the platen to be driven thereby and thus rotate the spindles and rollers.
