Abstract

1483549 Fertiliser-applying dibbles JOHN TOOBY & CO Ltd 21 April 1976 [2 Sept 1975] 36127/75 Heading A1B A device for making holes in the ground and feeding powdered or granular material into them comprises a hopper 8 and an elongate rod 15 with a dibble 4 at one end. The dibble and a plunger 18 pinned to the rod 15, slide in a tubular guide 11 which is rigid with an annular block 9 and fixed coaxially within the main body tube 6 of the device. When the rod is retracted, Fig. 4, material from the hopper can pass into the interior of the guide 11 through apertures 12 therein such that when the rod is advanced to the position of Fig. 3 so that the dibble makes a hole in the ground, the material trapped between the head 17 of the dibble and the plunger 18 is carried down the guide 11 to the discharge chamber 2. When the dibble is subsequently retracted the material will drop out through the outlet 3 and into the hole in the ground.
