Abstract

1483346 Gas turbine engine ignition arrangement LUCAS INDUSTRIES Ltd 10 Dec 1974 [15 Dec 1973] 58220/73 Heading F1G [Also in Division F4] A combustion chamber assembly for a gas turbine, comprises a flame tube wall 11, and an electrical ignitor arrangement extending through the wall, the arrangement including a normally live electrode 29 electrically insulated from the combustion chamber and carried in a body 30 which is removable from wall 11, and an earth electrode 25, separate from electrode 29 and removable from the wall independently of electrode 29 and body 30, whereby electrode 25 can be replaced without removing electrode 29 from wall 11. The end-wall of flame tube 10 includes a frusto-conical baffle 12 and a backing plate 13 which is connected to the wall by air swirler blades 14. A fuel sprayer 20 is fixed to a casing 15 by a flange 21. Electrode 25 has an inner tip of "Stellite" (Registered Trade Mark), and the electrode can be removed by releasing bolts 17 and removing sprayer 20, to expose the cranked end of an electrode holder 26.
