Abstract
1521088 Rotary combustion apparatus J HUNTER 17 Jan 1977 [17 Oct 1975] 42579/75 Addition to 1489331 Heading F4B Apparatus for combustion or gasification of solid, liquid or-gaseous fuel comprises a rotary, horizontal elongated primary combustion chamber 13 supplied with air at spaced points along its length-as described in Parent Application 1,489,331, a premix chamber 14, to which fuel and acid is supplied for tangential delivery to the combustion chamber, a stationary secondary combustion chamber 33, Fig. 4, and an ash collecting chamber 35 forming -an extension of the secondary combustion chamber 33 and connected to it through a re-entrant outlet :member mounted in the combustion chamber. The primary combustion chamber is mounted by bearings 5 within a stationary jacket 7 and carries studs which are cooled by combustion air and steam -or water sprays. Cooling tubes 12 run the length of the combustion chambers and form an ash deflecting grid 52 in the ash chamber. Ash and gases from the final chamber are recycled to the premix chamber and the speed of rotation of the primary chamber is adjusted according to the fuel to the burnt and the power demand or other purpose for which the apparatus is to be used.
