Abstract
PURPOSE: To use an electric resistance exothermic body as a substitute of a glow pulg, by romoting the formation of the swirl current of compressed air at an antechamber while disposing the exothermic body to a nozzle or a circumferential wall portion of the antechamber.
CONSTITUTION: Since a bottom of an antechamber 5, to which fuel adheres most easily, and a nozzle 6 portion emit heat over wide areas by conducting an electric resistance exothermic body 11 when starting an engine, compressed air flowing into the antechamber 5 from a main combustion chamber 3 is changed into high temp. by the heating of the nozzle 6 and a circumferential wall of the bottom of the antechamber 5 while fuel is actively evaporated from a wall surface, and there is no glow plug, which causes troubles to swirl current, in the antechamber 5. Consequently, the swirl current of compressed air is strengthened, the diffusion and atomization of fuel are promoted, and ignition is accelerated, thus improving starting-ability.
