Portable pressure reservoirs; fire-extinguishing by gases.-Compressed-gas containers, adapted to retain their pressure for long periods and applicable to fire-extinguishers &c., are provided with a filling-orifice adapted to be soldered after charging, and a separate discharge orifice closed by a breakable membrane held in position by solder and also by a cap. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the conical filling-opening e is closed both by a lead ball l forced outwards by the pressure, and by solder on the outside. In the form shown in Fig. 2, a filling-tube n is sealed by punching and then soldering, a protecting-cap u being then applied. The membrane m is soldered to the edge of the neck of the container, and is also held firmly between a bell-shaped member g, with a discharge opening d, and a screw cap k having a central opening closed by a loose disk s. A tube may extend upwards from the opening d to prevent escape of any liquefied gas contained in the lower part of the vessel. The cap k may carry a striker z, Fig. 4, having an enlarged head c and a groove r adapted to be engaged by a retaining- spring i when the striker is operated.
