Abstract

148,091. Kidd, F. Dec. 11, 1919. Chucks.-In a chuck for holding a face grinding-wheel of the kind in which the wheel is held by a split tapered ring, the chuck has an interior surface which does not touch the wheel, and the split ting has a lining of fibrous material between it and the grinding-wheel. The chuck A has a boss B screwed internally to fit a driving-spindle and externally to receive an adjusting disk C, and is provided with an internal coned surface and an external screwed part D. A split ring H, tapered on the outside, is disposed between the coned part of the chuck and the grinding-wheel G and is lined with fibrous material J, and a flanged collar E, screwing on the thread D, is provided whereby the split ring is pressed' to clamp the grinding-wheel. Adjustment of the wheel for wear is made by means of the disk C.
