Chucks. - A chuck comprises a flanged part 1 for attachment to a spindle and a body part 2 attached thereto and having axial projections 3 against which a casing 5 is secured by bolts 4. The jaws 18, which are reversable in their carriers 17, are adjusted in radial guides in the casing by bell-crank levers 13, oscillated about pivots 12 on axial projections 11 of the body. Pins 15, 14, respectively engage slots in the jaw-carriers and in projections 10 on a ring 9 secured on its periphery to engage an internal screw thread on a sleeve 6 rotatably mounted between the flange, 1 and a collar on the casing. The sleeve may be provided with a wheel 7 for hand operation or with a friction surface for engagement by a band or shoe brake.
