Abstract
1480162 Terminals for electric cables GROTE & HARTMANN 22 May 1975 [11 June 1974] 22032/75 Heading H2E [Also in Division B3] A tape cable terminal comprises a stamped elongate metal U-shaped channel piece with base 3 and arms 4 the base having one or more sharp-edged ridges 31 extending transversely between the arms, the arms being provided optionally with knife edges which may also be serrated. The conductor of the cable is placed in the U, the arms are rolled over in a die (see Division B3) to engage the conductor and then in the same operation the base is bent in such a way that the conductor has a transverse bending force applied to it by the arms to provide a secure connection. The cable may be insulated, the arms 4 and ridges 31 being adapted to cut through the insulation and make contact with the conductor of the cable.
